Denmark has inaugurated the world’s first dynamic green ammonia plant, capable of producing 5,000 tons annually using renewable energy from 50 MW solar panels and 12 MW Vestas wind turbines. The plant, utilizing Topsoe technology, optimizes electrolysis and ammonia production with fluctuating renewable power inputs. This achievement accelerates green ammonia as a solution for diversifying energy supply and decarbonizing energy-intensive sectors like shipping and agriculture. Kim Hedegaard, CEO of Power-to-X at Topsoe, emphasized the project’s significance in Northwest Jutland for innovation, growth, and job creation, highlighting its potential for global scalability in accelerating the green transition.
